Discover where Egypt and the Bible Intersect

Most of us know about Joseph and Moses and their connection with Egypt. But that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Egypt was a mighty nation for generations, and their influence on Israel extended well beyond the Exodus. Even Jesus spent time in the land of the Nile.

Our first foray into modern Egypt to explore its intersections with the Bible will take place in January 2027.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Cairo

  • Arrival & Transfer: Meet our representative at Cairo International Airport (arrivals hall, look for a sign with your name). Private air-conditioned transfer to your hotel in Cairo/Giza area (typically 45-60 minutes depending on traffic).
  • Afternoon/Evening: Rest after your flight. If energy allows, take an evening Nile walk or hotel dinner.
  • Meals: Dinner at hotel or nearby (try Egyptian classics like koshary, grilled meats, or molokhia).
  • Overnight: Cairo

Day 2: Saqarra & Giza Pyramids

  • Morning: Departure to Saqqara (about 30-45 min drive). Visit the Step Pyramid of Djoser — the world’s first pyramid (post-Babel, Mizraim and sons). Explore surrounding tombs and the Imhotep Museum for context.
  • Lunch: At a local restaurant
  • Afternoon: Head to the Giza Plateau (30-45 min). See the Great Pyramid of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, plus the Great Sphinx. Time for photos, camel/quad bike rides (extra fee, negotiate well), and optional entry inside a pyramid (extra fee, can be claustrophobic).
  • Evening: Return to hotel. Relax or enjoy a hotel dinner. Bible discussion afterward.
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day 3: Fly to Aswan & Board Nile Cruise

  • Early Start: Transfer to Cairo Airport for short flight to Aswan (usually 1.5 hours).
  • Aswan Highlights: Visit Aswan High Dam (engineering marvel, views over Lake Nasser) and Philae Temple (Isis temple, beautifully relocated due to the dam; stunning island setting).
  • Board Cruise: Afternoon to settle in, enjoy the deck, and watch the Nile scenery. Bible discussion after dinner.
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner (onboard buffets are usually good with international/Egyptian options).

Day 4: Abu Simbel Day Trip & Kom Ombo

  • Very Early Start: (4:30 AM) Drive to Abu Simbel (~3.5 hours each way). These massive temples (Ramses II and his queen Nefertari) are jaw-dropping, carved into rock and aligned with the sun twice a year.
  • Afternoon: Ship sails to Kom Ombo. Visit the unique double temple dedicated to Sobek (crocodile god) and Horus. See mummified crocodiles and beautiful Nile views. Bible discussion after dinner.
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day 5: Sailing to Luxor & Temple Visits

  • Morning: Relaxed sailing with breakfast and views of the Nile, villages, and feluccas.
  • Afternoon: Arrive in Luxor. Visit Karnak Temple (vast complex, hypostyle hall is incredible) and Luxor Temple (compact, beautifully lit in evening).
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner.
  • Evening: Optional sound & light show at Karnak.

Day 6: West Bank Luxor & Fly to Cairo

  • Morning: Check out from cruise. Cross to West Bank for Valley of the Kings (3 tombs included). See colorful wall paintings. Then Hatshepsut Temple (striking architecture against cliffs) and Colossi of Memnon.
  • Afternoon: Transfer to Luxor Airport, fly back to Cairo. Hotel check-in. Bible discussion after dinner.
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day 7: Grand Egyptian Museum & National Museum of Egyptian Civilization

  • Morning: Visit the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) near Giza (fully open with Tutankhamun’s full collection and pyramid views). It’s massive!

  • Evening: Relax or optional dinner cruise on the Nile.
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day 8: Departure

  • Breakfast at hotel. Check out and private transfer to Cairo Airport. Allow plenty of time for international departure formalities.
